Murchison started in Uruguay in 1985 as a representative of shipping lines in overseas traffic and as a shipping agent, to then concentrate on port stevedoring and related tasks.
In early 1997, aware of the importance that logistics had quickly gained in the country, we decided to shift our business’ direction, and we began focusing our resources on providing complete logistic services.
In just over three years, and as a result from a strong business and client growth, we became leaders in our field, thus confirming the quality, responsibility and reliability of our services.
In 2000 we incorporated our most ambitious and versatile Distribution Center (Distribution Center Nº1), with a closed warehouse of 14,632 m2 and a 150,000 m2 open one. This constitutes Murchison’s biggest accomplishment in Uruguay, enabling the operation of trucks and large containers with self-regulated ramps, and the entry of trucks to the Distribution Center, where the most demanding logistic operations occur 24/7.
In 2012, due to constant vehicle storage issues in the Port of Montevideo and with the objective of contributing with the decongestion of such area, we opened our automotive platform extra-port and under tax system, which specializes in vehicle storage and similar loads.
In 2014, we acquired a new lot in front of our Distribution Center No1 which enlarged our capacity and enhanced our operative possibilities. Such center enables us to provide closed warehouse services under national and tax systems, or open warehouse services within our container yard and general loads.
We currently have two specialized Distribution Centers, which are strategically located and manage specific products.
Distribution Center Nº 1 – Camino Bajo de la Petisa 5042
Located nearby Ruta Nacional Nº1 and Camino Tomkinson, with access to one of our main national routes and only 20 minutes away from the Port of Montevideo, this center has a closed warehouse of 14,632 m2 and a 150,000 m2 open one.
It features an exclusive storage area for chemical products and another one for foodstuff.
Automotive Platform - Camino Bajo de la Petisa 5042
Located in the back area of Distribution Center Nº1, it has an open lot of 84,200 m2 devoted to store vehicles and similar loads under tax system and 90,000 m2 of land for open storage of nationalized units.
Distribution Center Nº 2 – Camino Bajo de la Petisa 5205.
This center has a total area of 89,666 m2, with a 2,700 m2 repository for nationalized goods, a 2,700 m2 bonded warehouse and a 16,307 m2 container yard and general load area
